New Orleans Jazz Band , what does it mean? Firstly it is a description of a style of music that was created and grew in the New Orleans area from about 1910. the music is an amalgam of Spanish dance music, New Orleans Brass band music, African Rhythms, popular songs of the day and Country Folk music. New Orleans Jazz Music is one of the greatest art forms ever to come out of America. I suspect it could not have been created anywhere else. Why? Because the social and historic circumstances have not been repeated anywhere else that would create the musical mix that is the New Orleans Band.

Even today people recognise that New Orleans music is happy, infectious, full of fun and a great accompaniment to a good time! As a musician I am out two or three times a week playing with a New Orleans Jazz Band at some event or other. This happens mainly over the summer period for weddings, birthday parties and celebrations. In the colder months the New Orleans Band tends to work in the promotional field in a corporate setting.
