Covers band requests rallying well.
After a slow start to the year Jeff Williams of Jazz not Jazz Productions reports that interest in covers bands is strengthening for most areas of party work. "We have experienced a much later surge of enquiries for cover bands that in previous years" says Jeff. " In the past we have a steady range of enquiries from January onwards. By March we normally have every Saturday filled for our most successful cover bands between May and September. This year the requests for covers bands has been markedly slower, however, since the beginning of March we have noticed a marked increase in interest in this area of the market which suggests people still want a covers band for their wedding, birthday party or corporate event.
"People realise that music, especially music to dance to, is such an important part of a celebration. This is where the covers band comes into its own." Jeff continues: " People want recognition. Music they are familiar with, tried and tested favourites. Most of the parties we play at have an age range from 8 to 80. We need tunes that are known by all ages. This is why a band playing covers from the classic period of pop and soul, the 1960`s to the 1970`s has always been our most popular product"
Has there been a slowing down of the number of people booking covers bands? "Well", continues Jeff, "if this rally we are experiencing continues, I am confident that the dip in covers band interest will only be a minor one."
